Freightquote.com, the Nation’s largest online freight broker and leading provider of web-based freight logistic services, has received a Community Stewardship Award by KC Business magazine. Freightquote.com was picked out of 39 nominees and honored in a listing of 10 area companies that have weathered the recent recession by encouraging and developing qualities that allowed their business, their employees, and their communities to flourish during a period of economic downturn.
According to the August 2010 issue of KC Business magazine, the awards list included businesses that have “taken the very best of what they offer and focused on developing qualities such as innovation, customer care and community stewardship.”
In regard to Freightquote.com, the article mentioned the atmosphere of community activism founded by the employees and listed some of the many organizations that employees work with to improve the quality of life for hundreds of individuals in the Kansas City area. The list of beneficiaries of these activities included KVC Behavioral Healthcare, Heart to Heart, Harvesters, Hope House, Feeding America, Special Olympics and Cells for Cells.
The KC Business magazine also singled out Freightquote.com’s 10-year relationship with KVC Behavioral Healthcare for particular praise. In 2009, Freightquote.com helped KVC provide nearly 500 gifts for more than 200 children during the holiday season.
“Because we live in this community — we have 770 employees who live here in Lenexa — both our company and our employees feel it’s important to be involved,” says Luanne Eskew, Vice President of Human Resources.
Most recently, Freightquote.com has also been a supporter of KCK RBI, a local organization started by Freightquote.com employee Cle Ross. At KCK RBI, the stated goal is to bring baseball back into the inner city. Freightquote.com has donated time and money to the organization and asked Cle Ross to accept the Community Stewardship Award on behalf of the company.
Freightquote.com accepts the award from KC Business magazine and remains proud that so many of their employees believe in giving back to the community.
